The Comfort Study: Breast Feeding Analgesia in Preterm Infants

The Comfort Study is a randomized controlled trial evaluating the efficacy of breast feeding for reducing minor procedural pain in premature infants born between 30 and 36 weeks of gestational age.

We recently ended recruitment for this study in May 2010.  During the active enrollment phase, we studied over 50 infants from the NICU and Intermediate Care Nursery of BC Children's & Women's Health Centre, and the Special Care Nurseries of St. Paul's,  Lions Gate, and Surrey Memorial Hospitals.  Watch this space for news about the results of the study!

The Fathers Support Scale:NICU

This study is establishing the psychometric properties of the Fathers' Support Scale:NICU, a scale developed to improve supports to fathers whose infants are admitted to the neonatal intensive care nursery.

The study is currently recruiting fathers of infants in the NICU and Intermediate Care Nursery of BC Children's & Women's Health Centre, and in the Special Care Nurseries of Surrey Memorial Hospital and Royal Columbian Hospital.
